Design: Ian Brown Design and programming: Jakub Straka Supported by the Arts and Crafts Department at Oslo National Academy of the Arts (KHiO)
The website has been developed during Weaving Fabrics for Suits, the work I did as a research fellow part of the Norwegian Artistic Research Fellowship Programme at KHiO. I was a fellow at the Textile Department from October 2011 until June 2018.
From 2011 I spent three and a half years full time on the programme, with the final exhibition Weaving Fabrics for Suits showing at the Oslo Kunstforening (OK) from 13 March to 19 April 2015. The exhibition and an accompanying catalogue were the artistic outcomes presented for assessment in 2015. A reflection text was submitted for review in December 2017, and the texts on this website are to a large extent excerpts from the reflection.
The website is primarily presenting the processes I have been through and is divided into two main areas; process and archive.
My work is built on craftsmanship and my own biography. Weaving Fabrics for Suits and also the content of this site is about sensation, longing, belonging, memory, pride and being gay. It reflects my work and my personal history, based on my experience as a tailor, weaver and dyer – from the perspective of my practice, as a maker.
